I need help gathering some good pre med colleges/universities. My GPA is 3.55, sat 1500 (new). Based on this are there any good universities that you may recommend, or do you know where I can search for universities? Also, I know since my GPA is low, I decided to look towards California schools since they exempt freshman GPA. Freshman GPA exempted it is 4.2. Some help would be great.
What is your college budget? What is your intended major? Home State?
If Medical school is your ultimate goal, then you want to keep your undergrad costs at a minimum. California publics offer no financial aid to OOS applicants so expect to pay full fees.
California UC’s and CSU’s do not use Freshman grades in their GPA calculation, but you still have to self-report your Freshman grades and pass all a-g courses taken Freshman year.
You may want to consider combined BA/BS/MD programs. These are usually 6-8 years in length. It saves most of the stress and hassle of applying to med school later on. Also, it seems that you have an upward trend in grades (as per your GPA), so that’s definitely a good sign.
There is a special sections on cc that deal with BS/MD programs.

IMHO, your stats is nothing special and it will be difficult to get admitted into BS/MD program without substantial medical ECs with patient contacts, such as CNA.
CA med schools are especially difficult to get into because large amount of pre-med hopefuls.
You can go to any 4 year school to prepare a premed track, the key to a successful medical school admission is not trying to get into the most prestigious college your stats can find. You should get into a school that you like and you are the top 25% of the freshman admits, top 10% is even better. Med school is all about high GPA and high Mcat, if you can excel in the college you attend, you will be able to attend a good med school with high stats. OTOH, if you get into a top school with lots of premed, you are competing with the best of the best and more likely you will not succeed.
Don’t go to college in Calif if you’re an OOS premed. Don’t, just don’t.
