Hey guys! So im a student at Penn and i started out as a chemistry major and ended up with a not-so-hot gpa. now im deciding to change my major to something relatively(or alot) easier in hopes of saving my gpa.

Currently deciding between HSOC,Econ, and Middle Eastern Studies. Any input on this in terms of med school acceptance/ backup career plans? HSOC seems a little cliche, while middle eastern studies is probably not a good backup.

Pick the major that best utilizes your skills and interests and look into alternate career paths if medicine doesn’t pan out. I wouldn’t worry about being “cliche” as long as you’re good and passionate at it. Med schools are looking to diversify their student bodies but that doesn’t mean you should aim for the most out there major you can find. Take some times to talk to the different departments and ask about careers their majors tend to end up in to see if that would be a good use of your skills. Med schools don’t pick their students just based on majors, it’s more about what you do with it and what your do with your interests as a whole.
