I was thinking of the pre-med curriculum at GW and wanted to know the class sizes for the the prerequisite science classes…ie bio , chemistry , physics… How accessible are the professors for extra help if needed? Over the last few years what is the acceptance rates for pre med students applying to US medical schools…?
Your first two Chem and Bio classes are into classes and will be quite large 100-250 people for lecture but smaller (20-ish) labs.
Physics 21 will be 30-100, depending on the class format you choose.
I’m not sure about organic chemistry as I never took it, but I assume it’ll be in the 20-50 range.
As far as teacher accesibility, it’ll depend on the class. On the larger introduced classes, you might have to talk to your graduate student Teaching Assistant first. But professors still have office hours and will generally be good about getting back to emails. Any time I have to speak with a professor it was a positive experience.
As far as acceptance rates, I think you’ll find that with a quick Google search and the respective medical school (their might even be a nation-wide average).
Let me know if you’ve got any other questions. I never went to led school but I’m familiar with the program, have a best friend that just graduated from GW’s medical school, and I worked in the GW ER for 3 years.
Thank you for your reply!
