Hey, how're y'all? I'm currently a Freshman pre med student at the univesity of Wisconsin. I'm currently on track and pursuing a double major in physics and biology and a double minor in history and chemistry. I'm also doing lab research under a professor doing fmri imaging. I was curious if to get in a top tier medical school I was on the right path and is my undergrad school going to hold me back. I know I'm very early in my educational career but any advice is much appreciated

Its too early to tell. If you do well gpa/mcat wise, then you should be fine.

Your UG school is just fine. Your starting research as a freshie looks good. As to your degree plan…you really don’t need all that. Do it if you want to do it, but it’s not going to help your application anymore than one major that you love and do well in and a bunch of random classes that you take because of genuine interest.

Don’t forget clinical exposure and volunteering.

Drop a major and a minor, you’ll only hold yourself back unless you are taking more than 4 years. Too much extra work that could be used for research and ECs.

Agreed. Physics is not walk in the park either, that major track alone will (should) kill you. If you drop a minor, imo drop Chemistry. Usually, for a Chem minor you have to take Analytical Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. That’s already a load plus it’s way out of your way.

Have never understood this preoccupation with multiple majors. Does not help you in applying to medical school.
