I'm a senior in high school and am interested in becoming a physician, but i am worried that i may not be accepted into medical school after four years. Otherwise, i would go into pharmacy, but i don't know if it possible to get into a pharmacy school without a bachelors of pharmacy. So my question is, is it possible to get into pharmacy school with a bachelors degree in pre-med or biology or chemistry? thanks!

As long as you take the right pre-reqs… There is usually overlap in pre-reqs for pre-med and pharmacy. And it’s rare for there to be a BA degree in “pre-med” or “pharmacy.” They’re usually just tracks you follow, just fyi. Hope this helps!

There is no pre-med major. If you are a bio or chem major, I am sure that the classes you take will satisfy your pre-pharm requirements.

Yo, getting a DO degree is about as competitive as getting a PharmD. If you are serious about becoming a doctor and don’t care about the MD behind your name as much, then I suggest you consider a DO degree if you feel that you won’t do well enough in college. Don’t go into school with the mindset of “lol if medschull is 2 hard 2 get itno then ill jux go pharm lolol.”

I often consider pharmacy school over medical school for the simple fact that I know my life will not be as stressful if I go down that route. Entering medicine is a huge step, because being a doctor is not just a job, it’s a lifestyle.

Either way, like others have said, you will have most of the prerequisites for pharmacy school down by being pre-med. The extra classes you may have to take are A&P I and II. Either way, you still have a couple years before you have to make a final decision, so don’t stress about it too much.

well not all doctors have really stressful lives. Sure residency and medical school are tough, but after that it depends on your field.
