Pre Med Vassar or USC?

Hi, I would like to go to med school after college, will USC or Vassar better prepare me for this?

As a medical student, I do not believe that there are schools that are better or worse for premed. Premed means you take a random assortment of science classes. No school does that better or worse. Schools can be better or worse for you personally, so go to whichever one you like better and don’t worry about who will get you into med school.

yeah what Vassargrad said, you have another 4 years of college and within that time frame, it all depends on how YOU do the workload not the school. Every school uses the same textbooks and have the same basic outlines of the courses but the main plus for liberal arts school like vassar is that, the professor-student relationship is really strong. You’ll see professors more as friends than teachers which something thats hard to come by in large Universities like USC. Better relationship with professors=better internship opportunities, recommendations, access to classes. USC on the other hand has large classes and is more research based (the con here is that many professors in universities assign TAs and graduate students to teach their classes, has more competition in regards to grades and internship and program/class opportunities). Two very great but different schools. Depends on the type of the school that fits you the best or vice versa-- the schools you would fit best in.

Both are good schools, and like you, I was accepted into both USC and the Big V(guess where I’m going). But when I got my acceptances, I felt more for V, because USC, at least when I visited, just felt like a sea of people. Vassar felt more individualistic and more supportive, and the environment felt less cutthroat. If you thrive in competition and enjoy being at the forefront of life in LA and want more research opportunities readily accessible, maybe USC is right for you. That’s my perspective anyway.
