ps i start applying to csu's and UC's in the fall!!

You would have to add biology courses and possibly the second semester of organic chemistry if not required for the major. Also, your breadth may have to include psychology, sociology, and/or whatever other social studies may be added to pre-med course requirements and the MCAT.

You may also want to ask on the pre-med forum.

The refrain seems to be that it med schools say the major isn’t what’s important. You have to fulfill all of their varied (and sometimes silly) requirements with whatever major you choose. That said, engineering and math majors actually tend to have a quite high medical school acceptance rate. Why? Two things. First, you have to put in a lot of work to pull it off. Something like chemical engineering is not an easy major, and you’ll have to spend your electives on a lot of pre-med requirements, like bio. So don’t expect a ton of easy semesters. Second, these majors develop some really great critical thinking skills. This is something that makes you stand out as an applicant, that you have had to think critically about complex problems and come up with solutions in a way that you don’t necessarily get a lot of as, say, a bio major. This isn’t to say there’s anything wrong with being a bio major as pre-med by any means. But you do develop a different skill set.
