I am thinking of apply to Bryn Mawr but I am worried that I will not be prepared for medical school after completing my undergraduate education here. My counselor actually told me that medical schools don’t look towards Bryn Mawr when admitting students. On college board it says that only 1% of students go to medical school. I’m not sure what to believe. A prestigious school like Bryn Mawr should have a great preparation for medical school. Does anybody have any opinions on this matter?

Bryn Mawr has one of the top post-bac pre-med programs in the country, and those classes are the same classes that the undergrads there take. If only 1% of students go to medical school, it’s probably because most of the students there don’t WANT to go to medical school

I know a lot of pre-med students, but not all of them have applied to medical school. I know a lot of students who want to take time off to pursue volunteer work or graduate programs (like public health, etc) before jumping into med school. That said, we do have one of the top post-bac med programs in the country with medical school linkages. Post-bac students take all the same classes undergraduates are in, so you’d be receiving exemplary preparation, not to mention an entire staff and resources to aid your application.

That’s very relieving to hear!

Bryn Mawr has one if the best pre med and STEM programs in the country. I do not know where that 1% figure came from. Pretty much everyone who applies to med school gets in somewhere. There is even post BAC pre med program for people who went to other schools.
