Pre-professional meaning???

Hi Guys, I was hoping that someone can help me to understand this:
I was accepted by the USC, music major.
In the latter it says

"Major-piano
School: Thornton School of Music
Degree objective: Bachelor of Music
Pre -professional emphasis: Pre-Teaching

The pre professional emphases listed above is not a degree or major, but rather a special advisement track designed to prepare you for future study in this field. During orientation you will receive info about pursuing your professional goal whole completing your bachelor’s degree."

Could someone explain what does pre professional mean, and how it relates to pre-teaching?
I am a transfer student from the college and already fulfilled all the GE and Major requirements. Also, I applied for piano performance rather then pre teaching. I didn’t even know they have this kind of a program.
Can someone explain the meaning of the latter?

Thank you

Best to call Thornton admissions and have them explain it all. Maybe you were not accepted into the track you most desired. Maybe it’s easy to fix, maybe not. So make sure you know what you’re getting into.

@lily0987 When you filled out your Common Application, you selected “pre-teaching” as your desired pre-professional emphasis. The letter you received is only reflecting what you marked on your application. The Music advisers can probably explain it if you contact them.
