*Pre-PSAT Thread* Calling all PSAT test-takers!!!

I’m a rising junior, and I got 2240 on March SAT (with a lot of prep.) Do you guys think I should spend a lot of time on prep, or could I skip out on it a little. I kinda depended on my math score for the SAT, and if I get one wrong on the math PSAT I’d be kinda screwed…

RAlec114- No, only selected finalists receive $2,500. Semifinalists just get a nice title.

GGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLfor SPAIN!!!

Alright, does anyone have links to previous practice PSAT tests (like the ones for the SAT).

I don’t think the CB makes those available online. You can get previous PSATs from them for $3 each however.

Guys, when is the PSAT date this year?

^October 13 and 16 I believe. My highest PSAT so far has been a 232 which was 2 questions away from 240. One stupid mistake and one bad question away from 240. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get it when I take the real PSAT.
EDIT: Woot! 500th post!

^^ Yeah, it’s Wednesday the 13th and Saturday the 16th. I have to remember to sign up.
^ Wow, congrats! I always, always make stupid mistakes, then look back and kick myself (hard) afterwards.

Hi everyone! I ordered 9 old PSAT booklets from the CB this summer just so I could practice for my practice PSAT, lol (I’m a rising sophomore).

Great news to report: after reading silverturtle’s SAT guide closely, I scored an 80 on my most recent practice PSAT! :D

Are there any other rising sophomores here? And, like me, are you planning to take the SAT in May/June/October 2011 if your PSAT score is high enough?

I hope you mean an 80 on one of the sections of the PSAT and not the entire test, lol. ;)

Same. Stupid mistakes are the absolute worst cause you know you could have correctly answered the question. :(

Haha I agree, stupid mistakes can be a real nuisance. Unfortunately, my proctor for the PSAT was untrained and wasn’t aware of procedures. The proctors are told to follow a certain national schedule. During the test we fell behind the schedule because we took extra time filling out our info., so the proctor stupidly took time out of the test. This caused me to stress out and run out of time. :frowning: Unfortunate, but at least it really counts this year.

Otherwise, that wouldn’t be a very compelling testimonial, would it? :)

^^^^^^ **** that’s right after the October 9 SAT though! lol the PSAT will be useless then

I think I’ll buy some PSAT booklets as well- they seem to be really good practice.

I would suggest doing very light studying. It’s a good idea to see where you stand without much preparation to see where you need the most work.

I’m probably going to just take a practice test or two to make sure my skills haven’t rusted away. (2360 May SAT, 226 PSAT as a sophomore.)

^ They probably haven’t rusted away yet.

How can I order them through SAT Online?
They sell BB and SAT Online (more expensive one), right?
I have never ordered through CB.
Can we get some old SAT booklets as well?

Lol, I meant to say that I scored an 80 on the Writing section. Math, on the other hand… cough62cough I’m working on it. :p

Um, I’m not sure. All I know is that I ordered 9 PSAT booklets through the CB store…
