<p>It depends entirely on the school.</p>
<p>And the number of applicants in a given year. And how much time they have allowed to hear the players. And what standard they are trying to maintain. And whether faculty is full time (paid a salary despite their load) or part time (paid based on how many students they teach).</p>
<p>Most schools have only recently started to pre-screen for cello so my guess is that well over 50% are accepted, but this is pure speculation.</p>
<p>I know Juilliard said about one third of their pre-screened applicants receive auditions...but that's Juilliard...you never know. Like everyone else said, it's depends entirely on the year and the major.</p>
