Pre-Screen Results list for class of 2024

@NYYFanNowMTdad we must be in the same pile of emails lol. Still waiting on Texas State, BOCO, CCM, and OU. Submitted mid Sept. sigh…

I feel your pain @NYYFanNowMTdad and @HAHCx4. Submitted everything early to mid September and we’ve heard back on everything but Texas and FSU (and Elon, but that’s not unti end of January) Was hoping it would be first ones in would be first ones reviewed, but I guess not.

Has anyone heard from FSU yet?

FYI - this site does not screen out non parents/students so, there are some faculty members who regularly check comments. Some of them will disclose that they are on faculty and respond to questions about particular programs but others do not.

@NYYFanNowMTdad @HAHCx4 For what it’s worth…I’m doing this for a second time with my younger daughter. My biggest regret with my older daughter when she went through this 4 years ago is that I didn’t call Penn State when I realized that other people who submitted way after she did had been notified. BY the time I got up the nerve to call them (she didn’t want to do it) it was mid-January and their spots were full and they said she didn’t pass. It was the only pre-screen she didn’t pass, which left me wondering if I had called earlier if she would have had a chance to audition for them. I believe that for whatever reason, her pre-screen slipped through the cracks. So if I found myself in this situation again with my younger daughter, and I am SURE the schools have given out both YES’s and NO’s (if only Passes have gone out then they might have a maybe pile, in which case I’d wait) to kids that submitted long after my daughter, I would encourage her to call them to make sure they have everything they need from her…before it gets too late and their spots are gone. I AM JUST ANOTHER MT MOM, SO PLEASE TAKE THIS UNSOLICITED ADVICE WITH THAT IN MIND! I hope you hear soon. The waiting is brutal.

^ I agree. This happened twice with D last year. D called both times to inquire about status. I think she fell through the cracks at Pace. The other school sent result to incorrect email.

@SingerDancerMom thanks for the advice! I have gone through this process a few times but with the new prescreen requirements now, it’s a whole new world to me and completely different so I feel like I’m totally clueless lol. I really appreciate the feedback and advice tho as I’ve been going back and forth with wondering what we should do. The good news is either way we have some good auditions already lined up w schools my D is very excited about. It all works out in the end.

Has anyone heard of CCM sending out “no’s”? so far all I have heard about are "yeses’

DD auditioned today at JMU for both MT and Theatre - she had a great time and loved it there! She said the process was so much fun and everyone was so nice. She sang both her songs, they asked her a bunch of questions and she was asked to stay after for the dance portion so she felt like that was a good sign?! She did the theatre audition as well but has her heart set on MT. She said the dance part was challenging and felt like that would be a huge plus to the program. The voice part they worked with her on some warm ups and some other things and I guess she felt like that went well. She did say it was a long day as she started at 8 am and her last audition ended at 3:30 pm so she was tired but overall a fantastic experience and as parents we are super grateful for those at JMU who seemed to try to make the experience as stress free as possible! Now I guess we wait - for a long time to find out something!

My D passed MT prescreen for Point Park and Rider. She is scheduled at Baldwin Wallace, Montclair and U of Miami(no prescreen required). Still waiting on Texas State,FSU and Elon. Did not pass Penn State,Pace,Shenandoah, Coastal Carolina or Ithaca. Good luck to all the kids!

We are still waiting on Texas State and FSU too. We got our academic acceptance to TS last week so I was hoping after we would get the results but we are still waiting. We submitted both on 10/7.

My D just passed her prescreen for Syracuse but had to email them because she hadn’t heard anything. They responded saying they sent it to her weeks ago, but we checked the date they said it was sent, and she received a random email from them. Nothing about passing her prescreen. Oh well! Our problem is that we were planning on going to Chicago Unifieds, but Chicago was full and they only had one slot left at NYC Unifieds. Only other option is on campus and LA. Do any of the schools have waiting lists for cancelations? I didn’t know if that was a thing.

@Melanie97 My daughter was there too and was also asked to stay after for the additional dance. Maybe they met??? We love JMU! We know a lot of kids there and they are all really happy. They’re a BA so I don’t know if they are on a lot of radars but their program has grown so much in the past several years. The last few years they have had many kids go straight to National tours and Broadway. (one of the boys we know well just graduated and is on the national tour of Rent.) Plus it’s a spectacular campus, their food has won awards for being the best college food in the US. I’ll be thrilled if my daughter gets in there!

@SingerDancerMom yes, we loved it there too. It seems like a very good balance. My daughter felt really good about the audition, but someone she knows ( a boy, of course) was told he would hear from them “very soon”. So now she isn’t sure how it went! I don’t know how long you have to wait for JMU - is it one of those schools that they wait until the bitter end to make offers? Or do they make offers throughout?

@Melanie97 I’ve never personally heard of anyone finding out early from JMU, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. You could ask the college rep on this page (Kate A… from the program is on CC and answers questions.) In my experience they give the kids their academic/artistic decision simultaneously on decision day.

Thinking about you all and this crazy process as I think back to last year. The waiting is the worst part!
As you’e all aware this is not an inexpensive process, but the time spent with my S was priceless! Keep in mind to double check your fees on whatever receipts you receive, as we were double charged $75 by one school. I can’re recall if it was for prescreens or for application. I’m sure it was done in error, and we did receive the $75 back, but it definitely took some time and several follow ups.
BAL to all of you & your future college students!!

@SingerDancerMom that is what I thought too- I think they do academic and artistic together as well! It’s going to be a waiting game for sure! Good luck to your D

How many schools do most apply too? The odds seem so overwhelming. I guess it’s getting them ready for what to be the rest of the life. MT sure is a wild ride!

One min I think we applied to too many the next min not enough… though I won’t tell my D that!

@MTquest24 My D applied t0 29 schools - has auditions scheduled at 23 so far and waiting on a few more - it’s absurd - but with the odds being so slim and your child having tunnel vision about what they want, well, you do what you can to support them!
