Right now, I'm basically between Georgetown and Macalester for next year. While Georgetown has the international health program and everything, I'm just curious as to whether or not Georgetown is a good place for premed. Is there a lot of grade deflation? I'm really concerned about GPA; I know I shouldn't choose a college that I "can do well at" but I want to at least still be in the running for medical school.

Basically, I'm just curious if Georgetown is going to give me more opportunities, medical schoolwise, than Macalester. Or are the programs polar opposites?

Polar opposite mission to the students, but not necessarily opposite programs. For pre-med, you’ll be taking some standard courses: bio, chem, orgo, calc…

at georgetown i believe if you maintain a 3.5 gpa and score the national average on your mcats you’re automatically admitted to their medical school (if you are completing your undergraduate studies at georgetown) fairly good deal if you ask me! just depends if you want to spend 8 years at georgetown!

actually…the EAP program you’re referring to is actually a little tougher to get into than that lol. The average applicant has about a 3.8 during second sem sophomore year when they apply, and pretty strong recs

about grade inflation/deflation, i guess it really depends on the classes you choose to sign up for. If anything there certainly isnt grade deflation in the georgetown bio dept and premed classes overall, if you stay on your game you can graduate with a very high GPA

haha my bad, that was a rough guess on the gpa from what i barely remember from my tour of Georgetown two novembers ago. They played it up like it was a really easy program to get in to.
