I’ve bought both Princeton and Barron’s for AP Physics 1 and could you tell me which one is better for preparing someone for the AP Exam? I have heard that there aren’t too many good prep books for these new AP courses…
I used Princeton’s last year and got a 5, but personally did not find it particularly helpful. The content is obviously good, but the practice problems weren’t anything like the actual exam. Barron’s seemed to have a similar issue. I believe that Princeton is the better of the two, but 5 Steps to a 5 is your best bet, and much more helpful!
Even though I only got a 4 on AP Physics 1, of all the books I used (Barrons,Princeton Review, and 5 Steps to a 5), 5 steps to a 5 is the best for content review because its concise and still comprehensive. However, I heard a lot about AP Physics 1 Essentials by Dan Fullerton; it provides a really in-depth review of all the concepts with so many practice problems and the book is linked with the APlusPhysics website for additional videos and supplemental practice. Although I did not have enough time to use this book (had like a week and half left before the ap exam), the book and the website helped me so much for learning the torque and waves units when we could not cover those topics in class. So I would strongly recommend you to try the 5 steps to a 5 and the AP physics 1 essentials books. Btw good job in starting early for your ap prep
