I have applied to both Middlesex School and Concord Academy to be a sophomore in the fall of 2018. I have lived in England my whole life and therefore have not been taught any of the US curriculum. I had less than 2 weeks to book and study for my SSAT’s due to very difficult family circumstances regarding the health of my parent’s marriage. What I want to know is if I have a chance of getting into either of these schools.
My SSAT score: 2160 (78th %-ile)
Extra curricular: Piano (8 years, 3hrs/week)
Electric Guitar (3 years, 8hrs/week)
Drums (3yrs, 1hr/week)
Cricket (8yrs, 2hrs/week)
My SSAT essay was good (I think!)
I am full-paying and will be only a day student as I live with my Aunt.
Here is the YouTube channel I linked to my application:

Even though your SSAT score is below the average for both schools, it is not significantly below those averages.
As a full pay international student you will add diversity to each school.
I encourage you to offer your services in starting a cricket club at each school in order to make your 8 years of cricket playing significant. Plus, it would be a great way to make new friends while placing yourself in a leadership role.
It is clear that you applied to just these two schools in Concord, Massachusetts because you intend to reside with a relative who lives nearby.
I think, and hope, that you will be successful at gaining an offer of admission to at least one of your targeted schools.
Also, as you probably already know, Concord, Massachusetts is a gorgeous community & home to many highly successful people who work in the Greater Boston area. This should be a very exciting move for you which could easily provide a lifetime of enrichment geographically, culturally, financially & mentally. Walden’s Pond is located in Concord, Mass.
How would I go about proposing the idea of a cricket club now that my application is submitted? And even if I did, I doubt many people would commit to it due to the cost of gear, unfamiliarity to the sport e.t.c.
Hard to say. The international aspect is great. The SSAT is very low for these schools. Also ECs are a big weak. But may be better just not specific enough to say. Also day spots are very tough to get at these schools. Many great local schools (public and private) and many kids have it all including the SSAT’s plus a strong sports background and an interest area. I think your hook will be the international aspect of your app without that as a day student at either I would say no. I think both MX and CA are 90 or so for SSAT’s.
How many people tend to apply for sophomore year? I thought it was mainly people who failed to get into the freshman year and a handful of other really bright kids who are trying for the first time. I read somewhere that middlesex accepted 11 students one year, but how many do you reckon applied?
