Prep School Chances (Lawrenceville, Hun, PDS)

Hi. I’m an 8th grade student going to 9th grade who is applying to private high school from a top public school. I’m not even sure I want to go, considering my school is already excellent, but my parents are forcing me so I have the option.

My Grades
6th Grade was All A’s or A+s except Band where one marking period I got a B
7th Grade was All A’s or A+s except LA where one marking period I got a B+ and one elective where I got a B+ (There are four Marking Periods)
8th Grade I got an A in LA, A- in Geometry Honors, the highest for our school, a A+ in Science, a A in Social Studies, A in Spanish, A in Gym, and A in Band, and A+ in Global Leadership(Cycle elective) for the First Marking Period. For the second MP I have an A+ in LA and Science. A in Math, A- in SS, A in Spanish, B+ in gym (which is for a stupid reason but will go up to an A- shortly), and an A+ in Global Leadership.

I have been on the principal’s honor roll for 5/6 MPs since the program began in 7th grade, play competitive squash, and am applying for day school. I don’t need Financial Aid and my interviews at Hun and PDS went really well, but my Lawrenceville interviewer was a bit more skeptical. I speak 4 languages fluently: English, Spanish, Hindi, and Chinese(Which I learned by myself), and am now part of Chinese School for. I also am interested in politics DEEPLY, have a very vast amount of knowledge about the topic, and even wrote my own bill for the U.S. Senate, and was invited as a guest speaker to a public speaking program. I am on the debate team, as well. I play Piano and Clarinet, although I am not super serious about them. Teacher Recommendations should be good, and my essays are good too(I think).

I got a 2275 on the SSAT, Overall 97th Percentile. I got 99th on Math, 96th on Reading, and 90th on Verbal.

What is my chance of getting into Lawrenceville, Hun, and PDS?

I’m asking out of curiosity, as honestly, I don’t have too much of an interest in these schools, and am really just doing this application for my parents. That being said, I did try very hard on it.

Thank you.

Correction: I got a 2277. Not like it matters, but whatever.

Your grades and stats look fine. However a couple of other factors weigh in:

Are you applying for financial aid?
How good is your squash?

Hun recently started their squash program again, but they don’t have their own courts. PDS doesn’t have any squash program at all. Lville’s squash program has been on the decline, and I’m not sure they factor playing ability into admissions any longer.

Sorry I just re-read and saw that you don’t need financial aid. This is good because all of the schools you are applying to are need-aware.

Also need to point out that applying as a day-student to Lville is much harder than as a boarder.
