Prep school Seniors

Well i was trying to apply for junior year into sps but i found out the deadline was passed and i wanted the same chances to get in as everyone else. But know i realized some schools dont accept seniors, i know some does like exeter and hotckiss .Do thay accept seniors at the rate they do to with juniors of sophmores ? will i have a chance ? And if so what other schools are there. thanks

the higher the grade you are applying for, the harder it gets. but dont let this discourage you.. if you are comfortable with it, post some of your stats here and most members of this board will give you some feedback

That isn't true for most schools. Last year I emailed Andover and Exeter and both said it was about equal in difficulty to gain admissions for the 11th and 12th grades.

They have fewer openings but also fewer applicants. It appears that the admissions % is about the same in all grades at most schools (unless of course, like SPS they don't take seniors).

thanks for that jonathan, i should have researched my answer a bit more

Actually, for other schools like Deerfield, I think it's harder. There are 200 applicants for seniors this year, and they're only taking 2-4 girls.

just to clear up what i meant, a lot of schools have less open spaces in grades 11 and 12.

think of it this way: for every 1 available space open, 5 are applying. yes i know, blah blah some of you are gonna be like OMG that is NOT true, of course, not really, but it is a good visualization.... and don't say that bigger schools will have more people of applying per space open, because they have more spaces as well! so yeah. 1 space, 5 applicants

for senior year as well as pg year, most schools look for males. At my exeter interview, they said that its pg year is for males only. I assume the same is for deerfield as they accept about 40 new seniors/pgs. they also want athletes

nerds
pg year is also for female athletes

haha..for a second i thought you were calling us nerds lol

Me too! lol

yeah...apparently andover has an extra all-boys dorm for this purpose

Hey jenchow, I was accepted this year as a senior (not PG) at A,D,C, and H, and I'm not an athlete, so it's definitely possible

al, what are your stats? congratulations!
