Financial aid for international students is rare and hard to get at universities in the US. Most of those that do offer financial aid for international students are extremely selective.

At $20,000 per year, your choices are limited, because few schools are that low cost at list price for out of state students (e.g. schools in the North Dakota and South Dakota). Some well respected ones like Minnesota, Virginia Tech, and NCSU are around $30,000 per year.

What about universities in your home country?

well, universities here are really cheap compared to US, but the education system is really poor. And i’ve been preparing for US over the last 1 year, so that’s where i want to study

Anyways, my parents won’t be able to afford more than $20k a year. So i can’t do anything about that. I have been researching about colleges over the last few months, and as far as i found, most of the colleges on my list generally do offer quite generous financial aid to intl students. & I chose Richmond, W&Lee, St.Louis because they have scholarships which pay for full tuition.

I think you should include a few schools a little below the competitive level of those you have to max your chances for merit aid as well. Places where your scores put you firmly into the top 25% of students like Clark University, Elon University, or Fordham (these are really just examples). If for some reason, your first choices don’t deliver on the financial aid side, you would still have some good options.

Colleges that are need-blind for international students are Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Amherst, MIT and Dartmouth. So, I suggest you apply to them all. I also know that schools such as Williams, Colgate, Dickinson,Wesleyan, Grinell, Stanford provide great aid for intls, even though they are need-aware. If you are a girl, most of the top colleges for women are great options. You can try https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/. Look ath the international students section to find how much money they give. I suggest you concentrate on how much money they give to internationals, as it is a major admission factor. You can also message me if you want.
