I hope to get a head start on SAT prepping...
I'll be doing a summer program from 06/25-08/17 so during that period, i might only be able to study a bit over the weekend or no studying done.

I took the SAT in March, got 560cr, 640wr, 800math, so I'm not going to study math at all.

I just hope to raise my wr and cr scores up to over 700.

I already bought a lot of index cards, and I'm using the Princeton Review Word Smart's word list, hopefully I'll finish the whole book over the summer.

I also have word smart II, so if I get the first book through, i might try to memorize the second book. However, how should I memorize words so I can remember for a few months? i feel that say, if i memorize 10 words, only 4 or 5 can stay with me long term.

Are there any memorizing tricks?

What other things should i do for cr and wr improvement?

That's a long summer program. Is it a math program? My son did one that long last summer.

If you're at a summer program, do what my son always does and borrow recreational reading books from the other participants in the program. There's always someone at every summer program who brings along some interesting books. Read those to keep in practice reading longer passages, and talk about the books with your fellow program members to check your comprehension--even if it's just the comprehension of the plot of a fantasy novel. Reading should you get a higher score next time.

dude you know the CR is 75% Passages (give or take 5%).. so studying vocab won't help that much... REad any analyze books... Study practice test passages... and for Writing read most common grammar mistakes.. Just memorizing vocab words won't cut it.

yeah, if i were you, i would only work on vocab if i could answer every passage question correctly. learning how to handle the passages is easier than learning 5000+ vocab words, and you can earn more points that way anyway.

ahhh prep courses are useless! You could easily self-study everything. Read like crazy over the summer and reading score will be great. Study grammar rules, and you'll be set for writing as well.

Definitely study vocabulary. Mind you, it WILL help with the passages. Come to think of it, if you understand most of the words in the passage the answer will unconciously pop.

You will feel more comfortable throughout the CR section once you've acquired a sound vocabulary.

Well, assuming you're new to the SAT, in the sense that you know nothing and you start acquiring vocabulary from scratch, this list would probably get you scoring in the low 700s.

my goal is to get 700+...but considering my English isn't that good..(560 w/o preparation during march SAT), so? any other thing i need to take care of?

Can someone please write up a plan to how I should improve on the SAT overall and what books I should use?

People suggest me different books. Assume I start from ground zero for all 3 sections. I want to get the BEST practice out of it.

Dont tell me "Do the blue book and you'll be fine." .. I got that answer everytime and trust me it really doesnt work.

I'll post the books I have. Please tell me which I should complete first so that I can get the most out of it.
