Stats are as follows
UW GPA: 95.1034, school doesn’t give weighted
Ranked 12/341, so top 4%
Taken all honors courses throughout high school, will have taken a total of 7 APs by the end of this year.
Currently in a full year medical internship which replaced my senior year courses with college level medicine related classes, 2 days of classes a week, 3 days of interning in the hospital.
I’m a cashier at Wegmans
Extra curricular wise -
I’ve been on the Varsity field hockey team for four years, was captain this year. Class president sophomore year of high school, part of student council executive board, National honors society treasurer, Chem honors society secretary, math honors society, bio honors society, science Olympiad, yearbook club editor, Pink pillow project volunteer, volunteer in hospital since 8th grade, volunteer in local mosque, Muslim students association VP (10-11) and president senior year.
Basically for anyone reading for the future interviews, what they really really focus on is that you’re a diverse student who well rounded, knows what they want but is involved in a little bit of everything. In my case I barely made the cut off grades wise, so it was definitely my interview that pulled me through. It helps to talk about personal experiences as well, I talked about how I worked with the Pink Pillow project after my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. That strung a chord with my interviewer because she related very closely to my situation.
Once you make it to the interview that’s what they focus on, grades or test scores don’t seem to matter as much. It is more so based on how you present yourself.
