If the teacher writing my college recommendation went to UPenn, could that potentially benefit me in any way? Especially if it's a good one. Or will it be taken in the same light as any other teacher's essay. I'm just wondering.

the recommendation forms of the common app and most applications dont have a spot asking where the teacher went to college. So they probably dont care.

it shouldn’t matter

A first year teacher who can cogently speak of your abilities who went to an unknown school is 500 times better than an alumnus with multiple degrees who gives banal generalities. It’s about YOU and not about the writer.
