This was an interesting read. It summarizes a new book (Inside Graduate Admissions: Merit, Diversity and Faculty Gatekeeping by Julie R. Posselt) that takes a close look inside the admissions committees at six highly ranked graduate departments at three research universities. Some takeaways from the article: GPAs in undergrad are not nearly as important as high GRE scores, prestige of undergrad college matters, biases against certain applicants based on religion/ethnicity, etc. I look forward to reading the book.
FYI, this book is already a thread in the Parents Forum.
Oops. I’ll go over to the Parents Forum. Thanks @dadof1
