Pretty good stats, business or economics major. Need matches and reaches.

I want to major in either business (finance or accounting) or economics. I need some schools that will act as matches/reaches. I am going to need good financial aid. I have already been accepted to USF, and applied to UF (in-state safeties). I have free apps to Miami (FL) and Washington&Lee that I am considering using.
Below are my stats, please let me know if there's anything else I should explain.

Personal/Subjective:
-White Male
-Permanent US Resident (Citizen of Switzerland)
-First Generation College Student
-Low Income (35K) (Questbridge Applicant)
-Attend a pretty big and competitive public school in Florida, ranked in the top 100 by Newsweek.
-Will have good recommendations from counselor and teachers from math and social studies departments.

Stats:
-GPA: 4.8 Weighted, 3.7 Unweighted (92/100)

-APs: APUSH (4), English Lang (4)
-IBs: Math Studies (6), Environment (5)
-School doesn't rank, but I'm in the 98th percentile of my county.

-Magna Cum Laude
-Various awards/trophies for soccer/golf throughout all 4 years.

You have pretty impressive stats! You should seriously take a look at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.Since your family has lower income, applying to a need blind school would be a very good option. On top of all, you have excelled well in all the fields. You ECs are pretty good. Academics are also great and 1380 composite is not bad at all.

Thanks a lot! That is definitely one school I am considering, and probably will apply to.
Anyone else?

Boston College, Carroll School of Management.

I’ll take a look at it, thanks.
BUMP.

If you live in the Miami region, I think I know what school you go to.

(because some of my friends have the whole 8-classes block-schedule and IB stuff. I am not a creeper :c)

For economics, you probably have a good chance at UChicago. Business, I think that Carnegie Mellon would be good, as well as Cornell :P. I would also add Claremont McKenna if you want something smaller.

Thank you. And nope, I don’t live in Miami.
UChicago was another one I was looking at, and Cornell was another one that seemed good.
NYU Stern I’ve heard is good, but not good with financial aid…Is that true?
Bump.

Yes NYU stern is pretty good, and yes, NYU is known for being a little stingy with aid. I would second the suggestion of Claremont McKenna - it has a superb economics program and is very business/career oriented for a LAC. U Michigan’s Ross School of Business is quite good as well; you could try Emory which has a good business school too, and also has a HUGE endowment so I think they would probably be good with aid.

Thanks for all the help…So right now, I have the following (not my final list by any means, just some that have been recommended)…

University of Florida
Boston College
Carnegie Mellon
Claremont McKenna
Emory
UChicago
UPenn
Cornell
NYU

Not sure about Claremont McKenna, Emory, or Carnegie Mellon, to be honest, but I have to do more research.

Bump, what else?

UCONN School of Business, apply to UCONN’s Honors Program.

UCONN #27 Public National University (USNWR Rankings)
OK, I have 3 alum in my family!

Its not just Stern, the whole NYU is not good with financial aid. :(

Damn, that sucks, because I know they have a good business and economics program. I’m gonna need a lot of aid though, I don’t think I’ll have a very high EFC with 35K and a 6 person household.

Get out of florida and go to California.

West Coast Schools where I think you do have a decent shot:

UC Berkeley - L&S then Haas School of Business (either business ad or economics)
Claremont McKenna
USC Marshall
UCLA (Business Econ)

^ What?? UCLA and UCB would be full pay for the OP on $35K income…

Northwestern participates in Questbridge and has a great econ program; while it doesn’t offer undergrad biz major, it has wide array of business-related courses, including those in Kellogg’s undergrad certificate programs.

Aren’t California schools really expensive and not too good with FA?
Bump.

Ah sorry, missed the NU comment. I’ve heard that the economics program there is great, so that’s definitely one I will add to the list.

^^I thought the OP was a permanent US resident…

The last Q has nothing to do with internationals.
