Princeton admission and requirements for subject tests

So i’ve checked princeton’s website and it says that princeton RECOMMENDS 2 subject tests but doesn’t require them.
But in the Ready.Set.Go, it says that princeton REQUIRES 2 subject tests.

I’m confused because i really want to focus on my SAT. I know it’s better if I take the subject tests but I’m afraid if I dont have enough time

It appears that Princeton has recently changed its policy and hasn’t yet updated the Ready.Set.Go PDF. But they do make it clear that Subject Tests are only optional in the case of financial hardship. http://admission.princeton.edu/applyingforadmission/standardized-testing

Some students may find the cost of taking and submitting SAT Subject Tests to be prohibitive. Please note you will not be penalized for not submitting SAT Subject Tests if the cost of taking the tests causes financial hardship.

If you choose not to submit STs simply because you didn’t feel prepared to take them and your application indicates you’re middle class or affluent, this could be an issue for you.
