Chance me please, I realize that everyone is equally qualified, but I don’t know how likely my chances are.

Academic Honors:
AP Scholar w/ Distinction
National Merit Commended Scholar
AP World/US History Student of the Year for my school (probably doesn’t matter)

President of 2 small, school specific clubs, one with a focus on sports business
Volunteered with local middle school volleyball team

Rec Letters:
Calc AB teacher: Had the same teacher for Algebra 2 Hon, probably wrote about my growth and maturation as a student.
Ex Principal now Superintendent: Chose me for the position as leader of school events and probably wrote about why I was chosen/his relationship with me and how I’ve stood out among students in his years as principal
APUSH teacher: Good relationship, guessing the rec letter will be about my work ethic
Can’t rate rec letters cause I honestly don’t feel like any rec letter will be bad for a student applying to an Ivy
Your test scores are on the low-end (get ready for the next few commentators to crush your dreams and overreact) but you have a chance. Now this chance isn’t great since Princeton is so competitive, but if you wrote good, unique essays you have earned this chance. Good luck!
@MBH2017 No one can really chance these schools, but based on past successful admissions posted here in CC:
Your scores are a little low, your class rank is too low. Your GPA is not validated by 5’s and 4’s. Your ECs are not super unique. Unless your are a URM, or a recruited athlete you have little to no chance, there are just too many kids and too few slots… these schools are lottery even for the very best scores and most prestigious ECs.
The good news is that with your stats you will have plenty of excellent schools to choose from.
@psywar OP is in the top 4% of his or her class (36 out of 870!) so class rank isn’t that much of an issue surely?
@MBH2017 Your odds aren’t extraordinary, but there’s a tiny chance. If you’re a URM, or an athlete, the odds increase markedly with your stats. But again, nothing stands out to me as different - approximately 10,000, probably more, of the Princeton applicant pool will be nearly identical to you in merit, and 99% of them won’t get in.
The most competitive schools at which you have an okay shot are those elites within the sub-20% but above 10% acceptance rates (Tufts, Georgetown, Williams, Amherst, Middlebury, Notre Dame etc.) and some excellent privates that aren’t TOO competitive that you’d be good for include those like Northeastern, BU, BC, GW, American et al.
@Senior2016M what makes you think Princeton is willing to look so deep into ranks for this candidate when they can fill their slots with top 1%'ers several times over? I do agree the rank is not a deal breaker here, just another item that can impress, or not. The ECs and esssays are where the majority of the battle is fought at this level.
Doubt you would get a reply as this thread is old and the OP hasn’t been around for a while. Suggest going to the “decisions” thread and reading up on applicants’ decision there…
