I visited Princeton the week before admit weekend and liked it quite a bit. The only aspect that turned me off almost entirely were the dorms and the whole living community. For the rest of you who visited, what were your impressions? Was I just in a crappy hallway? It kind of seemed like no one wanted to be in the dorms and they'd all just grab their things and leave immediately. The suite mates rarely talked to each other and seemed to really have nowhere to do so anyway. Any comments?

My opinion: Pick Princeton. (<---hehe, alliteration. lol.)

Although the suite I was staying in was terribly messy, about 7 out of the 8 suitemates got along really well and hung out with each other a good amount of the time. I saw another suite that had both guys and girls (I think it did, at least), and four of the girls were pretty good friends.

If it's true that people didn't want to be in their dorms, then it's likely attributed to the fact that there's so much to do outside of their dorms (especially now as the weather begins to improve).

hm.. my host actually seemed to like lounging in her room a bit with her boyfriend or a couple friends. I think it depends on personal preference.

leeny, what residence hall did you stay in?

i chose princeton. i am not going to lie- yale was my first choice. but just after bulldog days, there have been 2 more robberies of undergrad students at gunpoint. one actually happened at 9:53 a.m. in broad daylight the day BEFORE i arrived for bulldog days. funny yale did not mention it to us. i would have been much more vigilant ( i walked around campus with prefrosh friends until 2 a.m.- looking back this was stupid but yale kept quiet). then there was another holdup this past wednesday at 10:45 a.m. in broad daylight. bottom line- yale is not safe. also, there are housing annex issues with some students being forced into offcampus housing that they don't think is safe and others being booted out of their residential colleges due to lack of space. i think yale is not upfront with students. i also stayed overnite at harvard but they told us where it was not safe to go. if you are from california, would you know not to cross the Cambridge Commons after dark? My suggestion: go to Princeton. At least you'll be safe!
