Would like to hear feedback on the two schools , mostly around their culture, matriculation and academics.
Since no one replied, I am renewing the post hoping someone with respond with a comparison
@tall00, you may have to wade through a number of threads in this forum to get the PDS info because it’s been written about, although not in contrast to Pingry.
I wish I could help you, but I haven’t known anyone who’s been at Pingry in the last 10 years or so. It’s a little far from our zip code! My sense of it from the few girls I knew there was that there was a lot of competition between the kids. The one girl I knew best loved the intensity of her classmates and found college a bit of a let-down. Another girl I knew well was delighted when her family moved to PA and she had to transfer to the LPS because she was miserable; she felt that the competition bordered on aggression.
My perspective is really out of date – schools can change enormously in a decade – but what I think it highlights is that the fit needs to be right. Are you able to visit both/sit in on classes? Or perhaps even attend some sporting events or theatre productions and observe the interactions yourself. We found the latter to be really helpful as the school wasn’t “staging” our experience. It’s not perfect, but cobbled together with the party line, it can be helpful.
pingry is more competitive, but pds’s community is warm and all the people there are friendly.
