I believe there was a thread similar to this on the old forum, so I figured I'd make one for the new one. I suppose we can list our stats, give updates, and worry for the next two months.

My name is Julian and I'm from Houston...yep. Both of my parents went to Princeton, so it's been a large part of my life. Luckily, I like it a lot, and so I'm applying ED.

I'm an IB diploma candidate and I'm taking:
IB English A1 HL
IB World History HL
IB Economics HL
IB Chemistry HL
IB Math Methods SL
IB Spanish B SL
IB TOK

Yeah, fun.

Scores:
SAT I: 1550 (780 M, 770 V)
PSAT: 209 (Commended)
SAT II: Writing 730, Math IIC (To be determined), Chemistry (To be determined), Literature (To be determined)

In terms of the application, I've finished everything except the description of how I spent my summers. Is that supposed to be an essay or a listing or what?

I look forward to getting to know you fellow EDers during this process.

Well, my teachers don't do formal predicted scores until December. However, at the end of last year, they did an unofficial prediction.

Economics HL: 7
Math Methods SL : 7
English A1 HL: 6.5 (yeah, I know...basically either a 6 or 7)
World History HL: 6.5
Chemistry HL: 6.5
Spanish B SL: 7

My extended essay is basically on science and religion in Kurt Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle. However my working research question is: How does Kurt Vonnegut envision a world where human well-being is not subjugated to the human quest for truth and understanding?

As I said, these aren't formal predictions. The 3 from TOK and EE are a result of my TOK teacher and EE teacher (we have a class...a worthless one at that) making a prediction before I had even written my essay. I wrote it over the summer, they predicted it at the end of my junior year.

Oh no! this forum has a post count! Post counts make me go crazy cause I start paying attention and post way too much! No!!!!

Also this is not cool because I created "encomium" like 2 years ago but I deleted the email address to which encomium originally was created now I can't be a "junior member" or whatever.

Well, they're both tied for my number one choice. Yale is probably slightly ahead because:

I know people that have gone there and they say such great things.

I love the whole residential college idea.

Their faculty is amazing. They also have a neuroscience major for me.

Studying abroad is easy.

But it really came down the finances. Applying ED to Princeton, would mean I couldnt' compare financial aid packages. My parents are not wealthy, so it's a great advantage.

I know you're not speaking to me specifically, but since when is study abroad @ Yale easy? They discourage it. But please by all means apply there, less competition for me haha.

Well, like you, Yale and Princeton are my top choices. I found everything about them amazing academically and socially. However, I liked Princeton, NJ over New Haven, and I have an advantage at Princeton because I'm a double legacy.

Well, you're right. Study abroad used to be discouraged. But the admission officer in my area told me that they are trying to combat this problem.

And don't worry, I'll be applying RD to Princeton.
