are these for primarily finance jobs?

No, it is my understanding it is the average combined salaries of those students surveyed regardless of major. If you click the WSJ link in the OP, you will see that they also offer salaries by college major.

Surprised that there's such a big gap between Princeton, then Harvard, then the rest. Princeton must be doing something right.

Wow - how does U Penn get that high? I guess their undergrad Wharton program gives them a boost.

Hmm. Interesting, but don't get too excited about that first job or possible career outcomes. Even with this simple survey, just take look at the numbers for the Ivies over time, especially Harvard, Yale, Darthmouth and UPenn.

it's weird that i saw so many versions about ivies starting salaries

This is hardly a "simple survey". It was done on a grand scale.

"In the yearlong effort, PayScale Inc., an online provider of global compensation data, surveyed 1.2 million bachelor's degree graduates with a minimum of 10 years of work experience (with a median of 15.5 years). The subjects hailed from more than 300 U.S. schools ranging from state institutions to the Ivy League, and their incomes show that the subject you major in can have little to do with your long-term earning power."

you guys should check out Caltech's starting salary.

Oh, sorry, I didnt realize you guys meant to compare only Ivys.

still, it's interesting to see that Caltech's starting salary is pretty high.

Strange how Dartmouth starts out lower (58K) but ends up being the highest Ivy after 10 years (134K).

Where's Stanford? Even Berkeley's in there... am I missing something?

These are Ivy League salaries.

no, the survey encompasses hundreds of schools. it's just that they have an article specifically about the ivy league.

Perhaps the # of respondents was not large enough to lead to a reliable conclusion.
