"Princeton, Land of The Malls" - Fact or Fiction?

Is it true that Princeton, New Jersey is has the best shopping malls in the U.S.?

I hope so...

I hate shopping

How can any mall possibly beat the Mall of America?

OMG CAMP SNOOPY IN MALL OF AMERICA! I love that place, but it's very easy to get lost in there.

No, but i will say that the King Of Prussia mall is relatively close, on the Main Line in PA, and it is by far one of the best malls, if not THE best mall in the country. It has the most stores of any mall in America and is only second in size to the Mall of America which has a themepark in it.

I've really never shopped anywhere else, so when I go to "normal" sized malls, they seem so incredibly tiny! And I don't get lost simply because I always park in the same place; if I park anywhere else, I have no idea where I'm at.

Oh, and question: is there sales tax on clothes in NJ?

nope, 6% on about everything else though

mall of america sucks.....its a bunch of random stores and most of them you would never go to

there no tax on clothes in NJ? that is totally weird. and 6% is nice and low!!! here in texas its 8.25%. and those huge malls are pointless anyways. houston galleria rocks!!!

theres a 6% sales tax on everything but food in NJ. Candy is not food as I found out the other day.

Quoting myself from another thread:

The campus is very self contained. And while it's not really physically separated from town, it pretty takes up one half of the town; one side of the main street. The other side is an upscale commercial district. think J Crew, Coach, fancy restaurants, starbucks, spas, Lindt Chocolate, small boutiques.

Thats the shopping you'll can be doing in town.

In terms of malls (you'll need to drive) theres marketfair: small, quakerbridge: bigger, and like 30 minutes away theres bridgewater: huge, Short Hills: gigantic. the bigger the mall, the longer the drive, but all are within 1 hours, and MF and QB are like 15 minutes away. NYC and Philly and anywhere in the US for that matter can be reached by train without ever leaving campus (yes, theres a train station on campus).

theres also menlo park mall (prolly an hour) and jersey gardens about hour to hour and a half....

cool. malls are good relaxation places. sometimes. but coffeeshops are definetely awesome. not starbucks tho.

Haha...the Galleria...I still have to go there since my mom always raves about it from her college days. Agreed on starbucks, too.

It's been so long since I've actually even gone to the mall. Back in junior high it was The Thing, but now it's just like, "meh. wanna grab dinner and a movie? Mad Gab/Pictionary/Taboo triathalon, perhaps?"

hahaha. ur mom must be cool. lol....the galleria is much nicer than in her day most likely. its been expanded and renovated. yeah, hopefully princeton has tapioca houses...great for studying :)

The mall is half an hour away by bus. Fare is about a dollar or so.

Unfortunately, I don't think too many people go there. It's the orange bubble syndrome at work.

Also the Palisades Mall in NJ. or is that still New York? I'm not sure; I always get confused about the "other side" of the Hudson River. And there's an outlet somewhere around there. Woodbury.

bottom line, theres alot of malls in driving distance, everyone happy?

a nice princeton coffee house is small world coffee.
