Hey guys, I just wanted know if getting recommendations from professors at the college you are applying to make a difference in your admission chances.

Depends how good the recommendation is. An absolutely brilliant rec from a well known prof is amazing, while a mediocre rec that shows you really did nothing to impress the prof is probably better off not sent

if the professor says that you are the next Einstein, you're in. If he says you are a good kid and pretty smart, that wouldn't be enough

ummm How do you know what the professor writes in his recommendation since you cant see it? do you ask him what he wrote in his recommendation????

It would depend on the content of the letter.

If you are getting a recommendation from a professor in you are interested in studying in that knows you and knows yor academic potential for doing this type of work is going to be different from getting a rec from your neighbor, parents friends/co-workers, relatives who just happen to be a professor at Princeton.

If the rec is based on I know Joe (no offense to people named Joe) he's smart, blah blah blah and doesn't really say much it may end up backfiring and hurting more than helping.
