Princeton Stanford MIT

I'm considering all three of these, so I was hoping you guys could help me weigh them. I want to study some sort of science/math/engineering but I really have no clue what I want to do, not even grad school plans like PhD, med school, etc. How do these measure up against one another? Benefits of one vs. the other? Is weather a big deal? I'm from AZ...so I'm not really used to the cold weather of the NE while that probably won't be that big of a deal....

If you're not sure what to study, go to Stanford!!
Stanford is very strong academically in almost every fields you can think of :)

Yeah , go Stanford!!!Weather is not a big deal.

Go to whichever school makes you feel most at home.

Go to Princeton...better undergrad experience....just an opinion.

Go to cornell! YEAH! Cornell!!

PRINCETON all the WAY!!!

Unless you have a personal preference, going to Princeton over Stanf. or vice versa will not make you a better person, or a smarter person, or a more well rounded person, and it will not get you a better first job, or a better career..

MIT is for people who KNOW what they want to do, IMO.

false. we're really not robots. no, seriously, I promise. MIT students change their minds, too. About as often as the national average I suspect. The majority of my freshman friends have only managed to narrow their prospective major down to 3 or 4 choices. And we have to declare by the end of this schoolyear. There's nowhere better than MIT to teeter between math/science/engineering majors.

go to stanford...they will show u the light.

While Princeton/Stanford are similar, I’d say there are significant cultural differences between them and MIT. You off the bat, that should offer some guidance. Two notes:

Pebbles is right that MIT gives you a great chance to switch between math/science/engineering majors, but Princeton/Stanford are probably better when it comes to switching out of math/science/engineering altogether.

If you’re deciding between Princeton and MIT, I’d ask yourself where you want to spend the next four years: a majestic Gothic Hogwarts-like Disney world or the green lawns/sunny skies California Disney-world.

I had to decide between Stanford and Princeton. If you would like to talk via PM, just shoot me one. I picked Princeton (full disclaimer there).

Silly Puddy, on your #2, which one is MIT and which one is Princeton?

Why did you bump this thread? It’s from four years ago.

Sorry, mistake - not MIT. The first was Princeton and the second Stanford.

Silly Puddy, whew…I thought that maybe I missed something since my days at Princeton in terms of the Southern New Jersey weather turning into Southern California weather…

Good question. Silly Puddy is a Princetonian. That’s why.
