Hi! I’ve been accepted at these three schools and I’m not quite sure which one to choose. The locations aren’t a factor for me, nor is the weather. I’m mostly interested in what the social life is like at each of these schools. Thanks to anyone who has thoughts on this!
Darthmouth - rah rah party culture drink all the time frat parties
Chicago - no rah rah. very nerdy student study all the time supposedly quirky but probably more mainstream study-hard nowadays. My interviewer did not seem to have gotten a lot from his Chicago education other than a degree and good job.
Princeton - probably somewhere in between. Seems more well rounded than either of the above.
The city of Chicago has far more of just about everything (restaurants, museums, pro sports, theaters) than Princeton or Hanover. What UChicago does not have (at least not to the same degree) is the social structure you get with Greek life at Dartmouth or eating clubs at Princeton. Given UChicago’s south side location, the weather, and that relative lack of structure, you do have to make an effort to take advantage of everything the place has to offer.
