Princeton WWS and Political Economy

Is it possible to major/concentrate in the Woodrow Wilson School and receive the political economy certificate? I would like to study international relations, comparative politics, and economics at Princeton, but I am unsure of the best way to go about it.

As far as I know, only the Econ and Politics departments have a Political Economy certificate. Depending on whether you want to take more Politics classes (IR, comparative, American, political theory) or Economics classes, my suggestion would be to major in one of those and get the Political Economy certificate within that major. If IR and comparative politics are your main interests, it sounds like the Politics department would be a good fit.

I was a Politics major in the Political Economy program, and I actually ended up taking more Economics classes over 4 years than Politics classes. I also did the Finance Certificate, which is basically an Econ/Finance minor (see for a list of possible elective courses for the finance program: http://www.princeton.edu/bcf/undergraduate/elective</a>). There’s a lot of freedom to kind of mix and match within those majors. A big factor in the major choice is in what field you would like to write your thesis about. The primary focus of the thesis will be whatever your major is (for me, politics) with some component related to your certificates (finance and political economy).
