Priority number??

So I have been very interested to see where I will end up rooming in the fall so I have kept a close eye on the priority number on spire. It came out today as 6,172. This seems awfully high and I am a freshman. Will this be recalculated at some point or am I going to be stuck with a room I might not want?

I am interested to know this, too! Hoping someone with some experience will respond!

Only someone who works in housing will be able to tell you if it’s going to be recalculated or not. Maybe it might be worth giving them a call. I know that for us upperclassmen, they were recalculated a couple of times before we were told that the numbers we have were final. However, I can tell you right now that 6,172 is extremely high. Going by any indication, there are about 7,000 to 7,500 students in any class. Since housing is mandatory for all freshman who don’t live in the surrounding area, most of those people in front of you will be living on campus as well. You’re close to being in the last 20% of students who will get their assignments. (Basically, that means 80% of freshmen will have a higher priority in their assignments over you). I don’t want to be the bringer of bad news, but if they don’t recalculate housing priority, you’re probably not going to get in your first choice (well, unless you stated that you wanted to live in NE or O’Hill as a first choice, in which case you’d be fine).
