Private or Public Schools

Does penn favor private or public schools more?

i come from a pretty ghetto public school, so i guess they didnt hold it against me too much =)

All Ivy League schools look for you maximizing the potential of your school. If your school only offers one AP class, you better try your hardest to take it. Conversely, if you're in a good private school, and take two AP classes all four years, then they will probably question that. I don't believe that there is a distinct advantage over either.

It may also depend on the location of your school. I'm from a public school in Florida (notorious for its awful school systems) luckily im in an IB program, which definitely helps - and the only person that I know of who applied from my area that got in (8 other VERY qualified people from my school applied). However, when I visited Penn I heard from many kids who said 15 kids from their high school were admitted, and they all attended high schools from then northeast.
