Private vs. Public School

Is it easier to get into boarding school if you are transfering form public to boarding or from private to boarding?

It depends what grade your are trying to get accepted into, and which school.

I am trying to get accepted into 9th grade

1st choice: loomis chaffee
2nd choice: taft
3rd choice:hotchkiss
4th choice: kent
5th choice: choate

nn i go to public currently

Coming from a “feeder” school is just one of many “hooks” - basically I think it goes like this: with two otherwise identical candidates, the one from the “feeder” school has an advantage. Do NOT let this bother you however, as no two people are the same to begin with! Do however, make sure your strengths are well represented, by putting in the best application you can. There are just as many kids who get in from public school as private!

All I know is that Andover has about an equal amount of students from public schools and from private.

Sadie is correct. My daughter went to a jr. boarding school/feeder school to a HADES. I recall students w/not so impressive ssat scores who got in. On the other hand, we have several well rounded students from our PS who got into their 1st choice schools.

Thanks! <10char>
