I have a problem. Only two colleges in my state (Georgia) offers meteorology, my intended major. I’m worried that if I don’t score high enough on the sat I might have to go to a college out of state, which I really don’t want to do. What should I do?
Go to Khan Academy online and practice the SAT!
otherwise you need to determine which is more important: staying in state or your major
Meteorology is a less common program. If your grades and test scores aren’t good enough to get you direct admission to either of the universities that offer it in your own state, they might not get you in anywhere else that offers it. Your back up plan might have to be two years at your local community college and then transferring into one of the state Us. Check the community college and the two state Us for information about guaranteed transfers or articulation agreements for meteorology. That would guarantee your admission for the major you want. Even if those don’t exist for the particular major, you can work with an advisor at the community college to help determine the best classes to take there.
Is your reluctance to go out of state about the distance or the cost?
There are two undergrad meteorology programs that are eligible for tuition reciprocity for GA residents through the Academic Common Market, at U of South Alabama in Mobile and Western Kentucky U in Bowling Green:

Depending on where you are in GA, these might not be all that far from home. At least one of them might be an affordable peace-of-mind backup for you.
