Problems installing UM anti-virus

Anybody had any? #1 son got laptop - we installed office 2003, no problem, went to install anti-virus, and it crashed halfway through - now can't boot up without going into error mode....(will be working on fix today). Laptop is compatible and there was no previous anti-virus software on it.

Does Michigan require that you install their anti-virus?

I installed the antivirus without any problems.

No
.

Why even bother? I use Avast, it's free and doesn't eat up a lot of memory.

My neighbor the computer guru helped me roll it back (yeah so sometimes I can be technologically challenged - safe mode didnt work this time for me)....we tried to re-install the AV again, and he got a window that I never got....basically said if you have a Dell D620 then STOP RIGHT HERE and talk to UM....

So I will give them a call on Monday and will either do what they say or install AVG or something free.

Take a look at the Dell De-Crapifier to clean off unwanted bloatware on your Dell PC.

You might also try turning off the Windows security software before installing the anti-virus software.

I go to the virusbusters website to download the antivirus and it tells me permission is denied? How can I download this application?

You signed in with your uniqname and it said access denied?

Yes, weird isn't it?

Maybe they are fixing it. We downloaded last Wednesday - I find it hard to believe that #1 son is the only one who bought a Dell Lat D620 and who had problems - have UM Techsquad on my list of calls to make today since son is on vacation this week. I will let you know what their response is.

Gonna use that de-crapifier on all my machines at home - #1 son was p-o'd that google toolbar was on his brand new machine along with aol and netzero.
