I will be attending Northeastern CBA this fall, but I am thinking about transferring after one year. I know its early, but I like to keep future options open.

My problem is, Wharton requires a course equal to there Math 104 (Calc 2). Currently, I am not able to take Calc 2 since it is only available to Math majors.

In the event I still can't take it for the Spring Semester, what should I so since Calc 2 is one of the requirements?

I'm in a similar position you are in...though my advice won't be much help. I'm going to Northeastern, but plan on transferring to Cornell through a guaranteed transfer. One of my required classes was Statistics, which for some reason, NEU doesn't offer. I took it over the summer instead.

But there were a few other classes I couldn't take that I needed to in the CBA major, so I just called NEU and switched my major to CAS Undeclared. That opened up a lot of options. Then again, for Wharton, you probably need CBA classes that aren't open to non-CBA students. You really should give your advisor a call, and be honest. Don't tell them you want to transfer, but tell them you'd like to keep your options open.

If, even after pushing, they won't let you take Calc 2, maybe you can take it at a local CC in the area during the spring semester? Not ideal, but doable.

I'm a little hesitant in stating that I want to transfer so early. My advisors are telling me that it would be pointless to take Calc 2 since it wouldn't even count towards a Math minor.

I'm very surprised that Calc 2 is only offered to math majors..it is used in physics, economics (sometimes), and a few of the natural sciences. Either way, I would first see if you can get special permission to take the class from your current university, and in the case that you can't, call wharton and see what your options are.

Is Penn close to you? I told advisors that I wanted to transfer to schools closer to home b.c my mom doesn't like me being so far away. And one that was further away I told them was on my list b.c I have family there. I've found advisors don't want to help if your transferring, but myself and this kid on my floor made up excuses for good reasons to need to transfer.

Yeah like if you need advisors help make up an excuse. Say your homesick and you want to be closer to home, or you mom is having a hard time with you being far away. Or like is Penn has a program you want and Northeastern doesn't have then you can use that. It's like trying to make a breakup happen without getting messy, just use a excuse that say "it's not you, it's me" stance. If you go in saying umm I wanna transfer to a better school they aren't going to help you much.

Mmmmm, I'd say the only thing Wharton has compared to Northeastern is their submatriculation program. But if there is anything I am unaware of, please let me know.
