process to defer undergrad loan repayment

Help. my daughter and are totally confused. having visited websites and talked to her undgrad financial aid ept about how to go about deferring payment of undergraduate loans as shee begins graduate school August 2013 aft finishing under grad May 2013. any information, guidance or resources greatly appreciated. she has a Perkins and subsidized stafford.

We can't even figure out where to get a form or where to request deferment. one site said she needed to have her under grad school set it up. The financial aid office referred her to a site calll www.mycampusloan.com where we can't find any information

She has never really worked as no $ and I lost my job in a layoff more than a year ago. She is definitely going to grad school (more debt what can you do) but we certainly cannot start undergrad payments...

if you have had any experiences with deferment or can recommend helpful resources to navigate this will be much appreciated

When D1 was graduating and proceeding on to grad school, I sent in a form (that I think I received in the mail) where I indicated that she would be attending grad school in the fall and wished to defer loan repayment. I received a letter in reply that stated that I had not needed to submit the form because when the fall semester officially started, the school would confirm enrollment and loans would be deferred.
Three years later, D2 was in the same situation. We submitted no form and shortly after she began her first semester of grad school, we received acknowledgement of that status and confirmation that her federal loans were deferred. This was in fall of 2012.

You need to find out you the loan servicer is. To do this go to studentloans.gov and enter your information. Once you find out who the servicer is contact them and let them know you want to defer. I was able to do it all online and get a confirmation in the mail, but each servicer may be different.

DS went to a central government student loan site and asked for deferment online.
I can’t remember the site, but I’m sure someone will be able to help.

His grad school then confirmed his enrollment once he started their program and his loans were deferred. No problem.

When my son went to grad school 3 years ago, he just had to tell Salliemae, his loan service, he was in school and the grad school also had to send documentation he was there full or part time. He never had a problem after that.
He was able to do it online.

As I recall it, your kiddo will need their FAFSA PIN to deal with this online. Or at least that was the case for my kids.
