Professional Writing

Hello,
I'm interested in a school with a Professional Writing major or minor; is there a list of schools with that major?
Thanks.

I’ve never heard of one. What kind of “professional” writing did you have in mind? Fiction? Non-fiction? Children’s books? Journalism, long form or daily newspaper or magazine? PR or advertising? Technical writing?

The possibilities are endless.

Some schools have specific “tracks” within the English major, meaning that they would take the same core courses but differ in upper level coursework. At my undergrad they had a writing track (as opposed to a literature track). But both tracks end up with a BA in English.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Shakina’s looking for majors along the lines of Rhetoric and Composition and things like that. It’s a writing intensive major that focuses on argumentative and analytical writing. Different schools call it different things. OWL describes it well here: [Purdue OWL: The Rhetorical Situation](<a href=“Purdue OWL® - Purdue OWL® - Purdue University”>Purdue OWL® - Purdue OWL® - Purdue University)
I’m interested in professional writing or rhetoric as well. I know UMich and Illinois have good programs for that. If anyone else can name others that’d be great.
