professor never responded to email!

Be prepared have to take the midterm along with the rest of the class. Find out if you can withdraw from the course if you learn you will not be able to pass it with the needed grade. Professors don’t have to cut students any slack, tbh.

Good advise above.

“why wouldn’t a professor respond to an email regarding such an urgent matter?” - Hard to say. But I will say my college son rarely replies to my emails,… urgent matter or not. He presumes I know he read it. Argh.

Barring real emergencies, in college it should be a rule of thumb to have all extensions - whether handing in a paper or taking an exam late - approved ahead of time. You emailed him before the exam was given but you didn’t get approval before the exam was given and it’s now at least 5 days later and you still haven’t made contact with the professor or even had your make-up exam approved. In the future, you’ll avoid all this anxiety and scrambling if you give yourself the responsibility of securing the extension - that means not just shooting off an email but having a two way communication. Your prof will probably accommodate your late exam if you show up for office hours this morning but is it worth all this nail biting?
