Projected Senior Year Schedule // is this a good idea??

I want to take these classes next school year:

AP Literature & Comp
AP Statistics
AP Environmental Science
Spanish 4 Honors
AP Biology
AP US Gov (online through FLVS)
AP Calculus AB (possibly, I need to talk to my math teacher about my recommendation)

I know everyone reading is already thinking in their head “It depends on you, the amount of effort you put in, etc.”, but I really just want the facts. In a general sense, do you think these classes will lead to a large courseload/stress for my final year of high school, or would it be the “right” amount of rigor? It’s worth noting that I’m likely to have a job during my senior year of high school alongside school and volunteer work. As stated in previous posts I have taken AP classes before (6 total after this school year is over) so I’m familiar with the AP program and I’m hoping to attend college out of state.

its hard. is ap Spanish really much harder than 4 honors?

AP Spanish is basically like AP English Lang but completely in Spanish, and I don’t think I would feel ready enough to jump into that from Spanish 3 Honors lol

Are you actually interested in each of these classes or are you taking them to impress admissions officers or to boost your GPA? Anyway, if you do really have interest in these classes outside of forming a rigorous schedule (which is certainly important in itself but is not a valid reason to take random APs or six APs at the same time, since there are diminishing returns on course rigor after eight or so APs throughout high school), and you have experienced similar rigor in the past with high grades, then I say go for it.

I am a current senior and I have taken all but three of the classes you mentioned (I have taken neither APES nor AP Calculus). I am enrolled in college statistics, which is what a passing score in AP Statistics would get you credit for; the only difference is that the stats course I’m in goes about twice as fast because it’s a semester long. AP Biology and AP English Literature can be very demanding classes, but they are both manageable. Also, I’ve completed AP US Government on FLVS and it wasn’t exactly the best experience for me; however, I’ve taken Spanish IV Honors on FLVS and the course was very fast, very easy, and somewhat interesting. Perhaps you should take Spanish IV Honors online and AP US Government in school. I really don’t recommend online AP classes in the first place, seeing as it’s very tempting and easy to skate through online courses without learning anything, which can put you in an unfavorable spot for the exam.

For the most part, I feel interested in these classes, I’m mostly interested in Bio and Environmental and I love Spanish. Stat seems fine, but the other two (Gov and Lit) are just to satisfy requirements/help my GPA out. I’ve heard Bio and Environmental are memorization-style classes, along with AP Gov, which is fine for the way that I learn best. I want to take Spanish 4 H on campus though, so I can get this amazing Spanish teacher I had last year again :stuck_out_tongue:

AP Literature & Comp
AP Statistics
AP Environmental Science
Spanish 4 Honors
AP Biology
AP US Gov (online through FLVS)
AP Calculus AB (possibly, I need to talk to my math teacher about my recommendation)

What is your future major?
I would not take AP Stats and AP calc…pick one.
I would normally say not to take two AP sciences…but you seem to be interested in the topic so that is fine.

I think this is too much. 4 APs + honors English and honors Spanish would be most rigorous, especially if you add ECs, a job, and the hidden, writing intensive ‘extra class’ that is college applications.
So, I’d only keep two from APES, AP Stats, and AP calculus.
If your school offers regular calculus you could take that + AP stats and apes. And I’d turn AP English literature into Honors English.
