Proof of Family Ability to Pay for 4 Years?

I recall reading or hearing about a U of T requirement for International students to provide proof of ability to finance all 4 years, i.e., evidence that the student forseeably wouldn't become a financial burden to Ontario. Does anyone know the facts on this, and if there is a requirement, do they want to receive the FAFSA or a financial statement of some kind?

There was no requirement from U0fT for a financial statement. When my DS applied for his Canada student visa at the border, I supplied a letter stating I was financially responsible with a bank statement attached, and they didn't even look at it. So apparently it's a non-issue.

I've never heard of U of T requiring this kind of 'proof'. I do know, however, that many U.S. colleges require this for their international students.
