Pros and cons about Cal and UCLA

according to collegeboard.com, UC Berkeley is 44% asian. that is definitely NOT representative of the population. the US is about 4% asian, CA is about 10%.

UCLA and UCBerk have a TON O' ASIANS!!!!

gasp he said it again!

wrathletik, did you consider attending Howard, Morehouse, or Fisk?

I don't agree with the connotation that a large number of one race or another is a pro or a con. You all seem to disagree with me, so be it. To each his/her own. Let's end this right now. The OP posted questions about the pros & cons of these schools and it turned into this. I don't believe that is what the OP wanted. He/she is trying to gather information about 2 great public institutions to decide whether to attend or apply there. To bring up the fact that at these schools the dominant minority in regards to numbers is Asians as a factor for deciding just saddens me. How ridiculous does this sound, "I decided against Cal because of all those Asians there." or " I commited to UCLA because everywhere I turn I can be sure I'll run onto an Asian." Yeeeeaaaaaah, that makes sense... However, I do recognize the fact that for some people, a large number of Asians seems to really be a factor, whether it's a large factor or small. Back when I was deciding on which college to attend, I would sometimes hear people not consider UCIrvine because of the large # of Asians there, from Asians and non-Asians, alike. Which IMO is a backwards mentality. Now if he/she was interested in HBCs or religiously affiliated colleges like BYU, specifically, then that is a different story. CAL and UCLA don't fall into those categories, so race should be irrelevant.

Fighting with girls on the internet is not my objective Taffy, so let's just stop okay.

i agree w/ wrathletik, saying that having a "ton of asians" at a school is a con is gross. maybe he just meant that there were a lot of asians at the school period.

but whatever. disagreement ended

...oh and about that comment about me considering Howard, Morehouse, or Fisk. What are you trying to say? WHY would you make such an irrelevant comment? Did i say somewhere that I had an interest in HBCs? Or are you trying to say that since those HBCs have a "ton o'" (LOL) African-Americans, that Cal and UCLA are like the Asian-American equivalent? To me that's just a lame, thinly-guised attempt at an insult.

I never said having a ton o' asians was a con. i said its a pro to some and a con to others. It's definitely something the OP should know, in case it is a pro/con to him and he isnt a politically-correct race-blind diplomat like yourselves.

and i brought up the HBCs because their student body is definitely something any sane person would want to consider before deciding to go there.

i didnt apply to howard because im not black.... wow im so racist!
