Pros and Cons as Engineer Major for trying to get into Med school

What do you guys think about Engineer majors who are trying to get into medical school? Are the vast majority successful? Do you still have time to enjoy the college social scene and sill party with peers? Thanks for feedback. I do get both A's in my math and science classes, so am really interested.

Engineering is hard enough and then you’re adding in all the pre-med requirements (pre-med classes, hours of volunteering/working in a lab or hospital, TA-ing for chem/bio, research). It’s already tough to be one or the other, but to do both is almost insanity-level. Yes, a lot of people do it, no all of them don’t finish it. Those who do work very hard, are very focused, and must maintain a KILLER GPA on top of everything I already said. It’s college, so it won’t be as easy as anything you did in high school, ever.

As an Engineer, I have time to hang out, both on weekdays and weekends. However, it requires planning and concentration when I do have work (so that I can accomplish it in a timely manner). Think about the additional work a pre-med engineer has. It’s going to take twice the planning and work ethic to get done. But if you can do all that, then yeah you can still enjoy your free time. My one friend goes to every home football game and goes out every now and then too.
