rstlne33, it seems that way. lol

NYU is the perfect school without any flaws!

pros: diversity, acceptance, strong study abroad program, strong academics, no pretense of ivy league, no micromanaging your life like columbia, shopping in nyc, cheap meals in nyc, finding "your" cafe in nyc, original and innovative programs, huge variety of classes available, the gym! the cafeteria! the internships!!! we are all virtually saved from our horrible economy if we get in! .......

cons: i've heard nyu is very bureaucratic and it's hard to get something done or changed. i can imagine this is like most academic institutions, though. also, (really no offense meant here), i heard it's really hard to interact with stern students if you attend a different school because of personality differences as well as the fact that they're very busy. sheltered, entitled rich kids who go to nyu for a few hours and then return to their upper east side townhouse and don't contribute anything to the nyu community. oh well, i guess you have to take a hit to have mary kate olsen attend your alma mater..

No one here has mentioned how insanely expensive it is...does NYU give out a lot of aid? Also, how have people dealt with affording the school? NYU is my dream school, but I'm just scared that the financial issue will lower my chances of attending the school, should I get in.

NYU has one of the worst financial aid.

You shouldn't expect much, if at all.

NYU is ranked #1 for students dissatisfied with Financial aid, and they are the first school to admit to the fact that they are NOT need-blind. 74% of NYU students receive financial aid, but the question is will it be enough, and they claim that they can't guarantee that.

Ouch...well, I'd be applying to Steinhardt for Music Education. Does anyone know if they give out merit based scholarships to those with good/great auditions?

Also, I just took an SAT Subject Test in Math Level 1, which I probably won't even send in since I'm planning on take Level 2, but I think i got between 670-690 more or less. Is that considered good or just average to NYU?

Maybe a little below avg for NYU, but they dont place that much emphasis on the SAT II, they are more for placement testing.

You mean the acutal SAT Reasoning Test and the ACT?
I just suck at standardized test in general.

No, all colleges place a lot of emphasis on the SATI (or SAT-R) and the ACT. They usually place less emphasis on the SATII (or SAT-S)

How expensive is it for a student to live in Greenwich Village? I know the school takes care of housing, but it is still pretty expensive. What about other shops, are they pretty pricey?

it's totally possible to attend NYU without (nearly) spending a dime if you make sacrifices on the hedonism department (assuming you have a meal plan). There are no surprises if you just eat at dining hall, attend classes, and sleep in your dorm. (whatever floats your budgety boat pretty much)

if you need grocery, there's always the trader joe's on 14th street.
