Can any recent grads/current students shed light on the ins and outs of this University?
Additionally, is the Psychology department strong?

Duke’s psychology department is definitely top-notch.
Pros:
1). Superb teaching and research faculty
2). Exceptionally bright students (some of the named scholars are literally the best students you will find anywhere in the country)
3). A sprawling campus with great amenities (the facilities will be dramatically better by the time you get to Duke)
4). Several engagement opportunities
5). Phenomenal graduate school placement and a very strong alumni network
Cons:
1). Campus culture can be too politically correct (this stifles debate and is a problem at all American universities)
2). Duke’s emphasis on sports and being well-rounded may alienate a small percentage of students
3). Alcohol abuse and Greek life can occasionally be negative influences (this is also a problem at most of Duke’s peers)
