Proud Carls: All 4 of Carleton's ultimate teams have now won national titles!

Class of 2015, welcome to the pride of Carleton athletics, Ultimate!

All four of Carleton's ultimate teams have now won national titles.

Congrats to Eclipse, the "junior" women's ulitmate team on winning the 2011 D3 Championship!

And congrats to CUT, the "senior" men's team, on their #1 national ranking. The little team that can (and does) slay giants sits atop Schwarzenneger sized competitors like UBC, Colorado and Wisconsin.

Best of luck in the national tourney this weekend in Boulder!

Yay Eclipse!

Did CUT win yesterday?

Nevermind, found the answer. They’re playing Wisconsin today for the natl championship, according to the Facebook page.

Aaaaand CUT wins the national championship. Success.

This third National Championship for CUT didn’t come easy. Up to 45 MPH winds and arch rival Wisconsin facing them in the final. They got there this weekend defeating Stanford in the Quarters and Iowa in the Semis.

I never realized Carleton won’t nominate players for the Callahan Award (“player of the year”). They feel the team plays and wins as a team and it’s inappropriate for one person to be singled out for recognition. Carls have won Callahans despite this in the past, but only because of nominations generated outside the team. Cool profile in Skyd Magazine of CUT just before the tournament began last weekend. They predicted a CUT championship :)
